| In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what you’re writing. |
| Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| Wat ben je aan het doen? |
| Ik schrijf in mijn dagboek. |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| Wat ben je aan het doen? |
| “What are you doing?” |
| Ik schrijf in mijn dagboek. |
| “I'm writing my journal.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?” |
| That's: Wat ben je aan het doen? |
| Listen to it again: Wat ben je aan het doen?, Wat ben je aan het doen? |
| “What are you doing?” |
| Now, how do you answer this question? |
| The pattern is: |
| Ik schrijf [object] (op). |
| This Dutch sentence literally translates as “I write [object] on." |
| But it means “I'm writing [object].” |
| For example: |
| “I'm writing my journal.” |
| Ik schrijf in mijn dagboek., Ik schrijf in mijn dagboek. |
