Hi everyone! I'm Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We've found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you'll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask where something is located. After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask for directions.
Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Waar is de supermarkt?
Die is daar.
Once more with the English translation.
Waar is de supermarkt?
“Where is the supermarket?”
Die is daar.
“It's over there.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "Where is [place]?"
The pattern is: Waar is [place]?
"Where is [place]?".
For example:
"Where is the supermarket?"
Waar is de supermarkt?, Waar is de supermarkt?
Now, how do you answer this question?
Die is daar.
"It's over there."
Listen to it again: Die is daar., Die is daar.
This Dutch sentence translates as "That is there." But it means "It's over there."
