Hallo Dr. Myron Schirer-Suter,

Thank you for your question ๐Ÿ˜‡ They both mean gift but "cadeau" is more natural and commonly used.

"Geschenk" comes from the verb "schenken" which means "to give".

"Geschenk" is more formal maybe? and is used when talking about donations or gifts.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for posting.

We couldn't find any issue with the video. It refers to the jewelry shop as per this lesson's content.

In case of any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Hoi Mike!

Hoi Linda,

- Het ziet er een beetje lang uit.

'Uit' is definitely necessary because it's part 'ziet'. The both make the complete verb 'uitzien' So we can split the verb but we have to use both parts in the sentence. If we leave one out...it's not not correct Dutch.

Hope this helps!

Succes!

Can you please tell me if the all the words in this sentence are necessary? "Het ziet er een beetje lang uit." Is it possible to say the same thing this way, " Het ziet en beetje lang"? I can kind of understand the 'er' but the 'uit' seems less useful. Is this just a phrase that we have to memorize or is there some rule here? Thanks for your help.
